Welcome friends…
Let’s sing!
Hello! My name is Jennifer Bell, singing teacher, vocal therapy practitioner and composer.
I work with people of all ages (8yrs+ to seniors), from beginners and the terrified, to artists and professional singers.
We will refine technique, remove emotional and psychological barriers, and prioritise the pleasure of singing.
You can also opt for therapeutic voice sessions, which are confidential and trauma-informed. I will help you to feel that the sounds you make can be celebrated and appreciated.
I hold a safe space for you to learn, experiment and get good at a pace that suits you. You can work with me in my music room in Bristol, or via video call.
-
You are warmly invited to come to work with me, regardless of your age or ability.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of what you are actually doing when you sing, and learn the skills to find a voice you never knew you could have. We will focus on technique, anatomy, and most importantly, seeking pleasure!
We will take into consideration your personal relationship to your voice, so that sessions can be tailored to your specific needs around singing.
If you want to go deeper, I work with voice trauma and fear through somatic inquiry and gentle exercises. I understand that the body has done its job in keeping you safe, and through trusting your voice again, we can help you to be heard, and to actually enjoy vocal expression. This is life-changing work that extends beyond singing.
There is something for everyone, including fresh and fun ways to get singing, and opportunities to bring the joy of song into your life! You could learn a song in harmony with friends, or make a unique and unforgettable gift of a duet for newlyweds to learn and share!
I also offer tailored courses, masterclasses and vocal and choral workshops in a variety of settings, for a range of abilities. I work across the UK and internationally with professionals and artists to develop their practice.
I hold an Enhanced DBS check and Public Liability Insurance.

“I've known Jen for years, first as a singing teacher and then a forest therapist, and when I decided to do this work she was the obvious choice. I trust her knowledge, her instincts, her genuine grounding in the body.
The work we're doing together is about the voice, but it goes well beyond making sound. I have spent a life time learning to be quiet, to not be noticed, to fall into the background. My voice was stuck inside me. What Jen's practice has offered me is a way to coax it out safely, rebuilding my relationship with my voice and my body, and reassuring myself that the body is a vessel worth inhabiting.
She brings real knowledge and experience to this. The sessions are careful, unhurried, and held with great tenderness. For anyone considering therapeutic voice work — particularly if you've spent years making yourself smaller — I'd recommend her without hesitation.”

“Jen came to our college to deliver a daylong masterclass to our Performing Arts students. They loved the experience, which ranged from learning vocal skills to learning a song in harmony. She balanced fun and singing games with technical practice, working with both individuals and the whole group.
She made the session accessible to students of all abilities, making them feel comfortable, and giving them a sense of achievement. They were buzzing for a long time afterwards!
We would love to invite her back.”

“I can’t recommend Jen highly enough.
I have had such fun with her over the last two years. She has taught me lots of useful technique, improved my range and helped me improve the quality of my singing immensely.
She’s pushed me out of my comfort zone with such enthusiasm and positivity that I hardly noticed! She tailors her teaching for individual needs and always has something new up her sleeve for our lessons. She has helped me move from quiet choir member to someone who has the confidence to sing solo.”
— Helen, Singing Student
